Innovation in Rock and Jazz
Innovation of rock started influencing western musicians with the invention of electric guitar. Les Paul was one of the earlier innovators of rock as well as jazz music. It can be seen in the fact that “how high was the moon” was the first song that was played by the Beatles at Cavern Club. Also very important was the contribution of Antione Fats Domino who according to Elvis Presley was the first musician to score rock and roll.
Mid 1950s
In the mid 1950s two great musicians; Bill Haley and Ray Charles came up with some unforgettable music compositions. Subsequently, it was Alan Freed who popularized rock music. It all culminated with Trenier brothers appearing on national TV with their rock and roll performance. By 1955, Rock and Roll had been prominently figuring in Billboard’s top ten.
Rock Music in 1956-59
1956 saw the entrance of both rock and jazz music in the main stream of culture. Man who made it possible was Sam Philips and then by Elvis Presley who figured in 5 out of the top 15 songs on Billboard’s lists.
Finally the year 1959 saw Bill Haley becoming the first rock star to go around Australia, Europe, and South America.
